Your privacy matters.
Last updated: March 11, 2026
This policy explains what personal information Kamakeja collects, how we use it, when it becomes visible to other users, and the choices available to you. We keep this page practical and aligned to the features that currently exist in the app.
For data-protection purposes, Kamakeja Housing Solutions is the controller responsible for Kamakeja. You can contact us about privacy questions or rights requests at privacy@kamakeja.co.ke.
What we collect
- Account details such as your name, email address, login credentials, verification state, and session information.
- Profile details such as your display name, profile photo, and bio.
- Private contact details you choose to store, including phone and WhatsApp.
- Listing details you submit, such as title, category, county, ward, nearest stage, distance to stage, price, available units, rules, features, and listing images.
- Interaction data such as comments, replies, votes, reports, listing feedback, and recently viewed listings when you enable history.
- Technical and security signals such as IP address, request identifiers, cookies, device/browser signals, and rate-limit records needed to keep the service secure and reliable.
- Consent records for optional analytics and, where applicable, delegated app access you approve through OAuth or similar authorization flows.
What becomes public
Kamakeja is a listings marketplace, so some information is meant to be visible to others. Your public profile may show your name, avatar, and bio. Approved listings may show the listing content you publish. Comments and replies are visible with your display name.
If you publish a listing, your stored phone number and WhatsApp number may be shown to authenticated viewers on approved listing detail pages so they can contact you about the property.
How we use your information
- To create and secure your account, authenticate you, and verify your email address.
- To let you create, manage, publish, and remove listings and profile content.
- To show listing contact details, comments, feedback tools, and other user-requested product features.
- To run optional history and optional analytics only where those features are enabled or consented to.
- To protect the platform against spam, fraud, harmful content, impersonation, and abuse through listing classification, rate limiting, and security monitoring.
- To investigate complaints, enforce our terms, respond to legal or safety requests, and keep records needed for security and dispute handling.
How we share information
- We do not sell personal data.
- We share information with service providers that help us run Kamakeja, including Supabase for core database, authentication, session, and storage services, and Cloudinary for listing image handling.
- If Google sign-in is enabled and you choose to use it, Google provides identity information needed to complete that login flow.
- We may share listing-owner contact details with authenticated users through approved listing pages, as described above.
- We may share information with reviewers, advisers, regulators, courts, or law-enforcement authorities where required for safety, legal compliance, or dispute resolution.
- If you authorize a connected app or agent integration, we may share the specific profile, history, listings, or contact data covered by the scope you approved.
Cookies, analytics, and history
- We use essential cookies and similar storage to keep sign-in and core platform features working.
- Optional analytics is controlled through the consent choices shown in the app.
- Recently viewed listing history is an optional feature. If you enable it, Kamakeja stores viewed listing IDs and timestamps so you can revisit them later.
Retention and transfers
We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected for, plus any reasonable period needed for security, backups, dispute handling, abuse prevention, or legal compliance.
If you delete your account, Kamakeja removes core account data and clears your active session, while some limited operational or security records may be kept for a reasonable period where necessary for legal compliance, fraud prevention, dispute handling, or backup integrity.
Kamakeja may use service providers or infrastructure located outside Kenya, including providers used for hosting, authentication, storage, and media delivery. Where that happens, we expect the transfer to be protected by appropriate contractual, technical, or legal safeguards.
Your rights
- You can edit profile and listing content from your account.
- You can delete your account from your profile settings.
- You can choose essential-only or optional analytics consent and you can review those choices again.
- You can request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or objection to the processing of your personal data where applicable.
- You can ask for portability of data you provided to us where applicable.
- You can withdraw a consent-based choice, such as optional analytics or optional history, at any time going forward.
- You can raise a complaint with us at privacy@kamakeja.co.ke and, where applicable, with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner in Kenya.
Children and sensitive data
Do not upload unnecessary identity documents, children's information, financial records, ownership files, or other highly sensitive personal data into listings, comments, or public profile fields unless Kamakeja clearly asks for them for a specific lawful purpose.
